Trauma is an emotional response to an intense event that threatens or causes harm. For many children, being in the child protection system becomes another traumatic event, leading to severely affecting their physical health, wellbeing, and attachments with their carers.

This course is a guide to understanding trauma and to teach effective ways of building trust in children. The course will also examine different styles of attachment and how play therapy can be used to strengthen a child’s attachment.

The learning objectives are as follows:

  • To understand the effects of trauma
  • To know why some children find it so hard to trust
  • To be aware of the role of play in building attachment
  • To know of practical strategies that you can implement
  • To know of possible playful interactions to use at home

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.

Should you have 5 or more learners requiring this training please consider the face to face option we offer.

Should you wish to discuss your needs before making a booking, please go via our live chat.
