Overview

This course provides a comprehensive look at the condition of dysphagia. The course explains what carers of children with dysphagia should look out for, when they should seek help, and what they can do to support the child, with strategies like messy play and positioning. 

The learning objectives are as follows:

  • To know what dysphagia is
  • To understand the causes of dysphagia
  • To be aware of the signs and symptoms of dysphagia
  • To know what issues to look out for and when to visit a GP
  • To understand the impact of dysphagia
  • To be aware of the ways you can help a child with dysphagia

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
