Overview

Domestic violence is defined as any incident of threatening behaviour or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial, and emotional) between adults who have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality.

In this course, carers and staff can learn more about the impact of domestic violence on children and how to help support them.

The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:

  • To understand the impact of domestic violence on children 
  • To explore the history and scale of domestic violence
  • To understand the impact of domestic violence on children and young people
  • To be able to help carers develop strategies and procedures to support victims of domestic violence

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
