Overview

This course explains what domestic abuse is and possible signs that could indicate domestic abuse is occurring. The course also offers advice to you, as carers, for how to support children and young people that have been impacted by domestic abuse. The course also examines Scottish law and policies that concern domestic abuse.

The learning objectives are as follows:

  • To know what domestic abuse is
  • To understand the possible signs of domestic abuse
  • To understand the effect of domestic abuse on children and young people
  • To be aware of the legislation and guidance around domestic abuse
  • To know how to support young people who have suffered domestic abuse

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.
