Overview

The crisis in children and young people’s mental health is real, and it is urgent. More children and young people than ever before are reaching out for help with their mental health. But for those who take that brave step, help is much too hard to find.

This course aims to help participants to understand the nature of child mental health, the impact of this on children, and ways in which to improve the outcomes for children and young people.

The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:

  • To understand the term ‘mental health’ as it relates to children and young people
  • To identify risk factors that may impact on children and young people’s mental health
  • To identify resilience factors that may promote children and young people’s mental health
  • To recognise the thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical signs of a child/young person requiring mental health intervention
  • To understand common mental health problems and personality disorders
  • To outline the tiered process with regard to CAMHS

This course meets the Training, Support, and Development Standards as outlined in The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011.

Should you have 5 or more learners requiring this training please consider the face to face option we offer.
